Community fix-it days for cats are a joint effort between SNACK, Inc. and the Fredericktown Veterinary Clinic as a community service to help reduce cat overpopulation.

Pre-registration and pre-payment are required and space for these event is limited to two cats per household.

Drop-off time for the events is between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. Pick-up is between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.

For safety reasons, each cat must be in his/her own clean, plastic carrier or humane trap.

Registration forms and Frequently Asked Questions are available on this page.

The special price of $25 per cat includes spay or neuter, a one-year rabies vaccination, and ear-tipping for feral cats.

Nursing mom cats are eligible for surgery if the kittens are at least 4 weeks old. Kittens are eligible if they weigh at least three pounds and are three months old. Because of the possibility of cool nighttime temperatures, cats and kittens must have a warm recovery area for at least 48 hours after surgery.

This offer is available only through SNACK, Inc. and applies to scheduled events only.

Download it, print it, fill it out and mail your check or money order to us at SNACK, P.O. Box 121, Sunbury, OH 43074. If you don't have a computer/printer, you can call 614-371-8996, we will mail a form to you.

5. Can I do this online and pay with a credit card?
Not currently.

6. Can I bring my form and money to the vet clinic and give it to the staff?
No. SNACK volunteers schedule the cats for the fix-it day, collect the co-pays for the surgery, and pay the bill when the surgeries are completed. The vet clinic staff will ask you to mail the form to us.

7. How do I know if my cat is scheduled for the fix-it day?
When your registration is received, we will call you and let you know we have it. We will also call before the surgery day as a reminder.

8. Can I bring in more than two cats?
No. The fix-it days are limited to two cats/household unless we don't fill up a fix-it day. Then we may be able to offer the slots to those who have more than two cats.

9. I registered and paid but the day is full. What now?
Space is limited for the days and sometimes they fill quickly. We can hold your registration for the next fix-it day or we can return your money. It is your choice.

10. Can I roll my registration into the next time?
Yes. Fix-it days are held monthly. If the day is full or you can't make it and tell us prior to the day, we can put your cat on the list for the next fix-it day.

11. Do I need a carrier to bring in my cat?
Yes. You need to bring in your cat in a humane trap or a carrier. This is for your cat's safety, your safety, the clinic staff's safety, and volunteers' safety. Your cat will spend most of her/his day in the trap or carrier so it should be clean for health reasons. One cat per carrier or trap is ideal.

12. Can I bring my cat to the clinic the day before the surgery? I work at 8 am and can't drop off my cat then.
You need to contact the vet clinic and make arrangements. You may be charged for this service.

13. I can't pick my cat up at 5 pm. What do I do?
You need to let us know you aren't coming--614-371-8996. You also need to tell the clinic you will need to board your cat. You may be charged for this service.

14. Can I get more vaccinations and tests for my cat on a fix-it day besides the rabies vaccination?
Yes, but you need to ask the clinic staff and arrange to pay them for this service. SNACK will pay for the surgery and rabies vaccination only.

15. I can't catch my cat and I am scheduled for fix-it day. Help!!
Please call us before 9 am at 614-371-8996. The fix-it day intake is staffed by volunteers so their time is important too. If you call us before 9 am, we will work to re-schedule your cat. If you don't call and don't show, we will not give you a refund.

16. My cat might be pregnant. Can she have surgery?
Yes.

17. I have kittens. Can I bring them in?
Kittens should weigh three pounds and be three months old. At this age and weight, they can withstand the surgery better and get a rabies vaccination.

18. My cat is nursing kittens. Can Mama have surgery?
Yes, if the kittens are at least 4 weeks old. By that time, the mother cat's uterus will have healed some and the kittens should be eating some solid food. Mama will return to nursing when she returns to them.

19. Why does my cat have to fast before surgery? She's hungry!
If your cat eats before surgery, she may vomit when she is under the anesthetic. She may not be able to clear the vomit and may choke and die. If you think your cat has eaten, tell us right away and we can either reschedule or make sure the staff is aware of the situation. Your cat can have surgery last or we can reschedule you for another time.

20. My cat is sick. Should I bring him/her to the fix-it day?
No. You should make an appointment with your veterinarian and have your cat examined and treated. Spay/neuter is major surgery and your cat needs to be healthy before the procedure. If you are scheduled and not coming, you need to call and tell us before the fix-it day. We will work to re-schedule your cat or refund your money. If you do not call and do not show, you will not get a refund.

21. What do I have to do after my cat's surgery?
We will give you discharge instructions that tell you what to do after her surgery. The main thing is to monitor your cat and the incision. If your cat stops eating, acts lethargic or depressed, grooms the surgery area excessively, you may need to bring her back to the clinic and have the veterinarians look at her. The discharge instructions detail the process.

22. Can I get my cat declawed on a fix-it day?
No. The group does not support declawing cats.

23. I volunteer for a local cat rescue. Can I get my fosters spayed or neutered?
No. The fix-it day is for individuals only. The group subsidizes fix-it day services through the efforts of our donors, fundraising, and grantors.
